System Requirements
To run Kapanga successfully, you will need to use the following hardware:
- Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista
- Intel Pentium III with at least 256 MB of RAM
- A broadband (or high-speed Internet) connection
To place calls to regular phone lines, you need to be a subscriber of an Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP). Please note that in different countries this service provider may be refered with a different name (Internet phone company, VoIP company, etc). The most known ITSP provider in the United States (where the Kapanga team works and sleeps) is Vonage (http://www.vonage.com). Please note that we do not endorse any specific ITSP, so if you are not a subscriber of an ITSP yet, please make sure to check the web site http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/voip and check for a reliable provider.
To send and receive faxes using Kapanga, you’ll need an ITSP that supports Fax over IP (this is also refered to as T.38 support). Most of ITSPs in North America do not support Fax over IP the way Kapanga does. Fortunately (for us) most providers in Europe and Asia do. We believe that Fax is still very much alive so it’s likely that the U.S. will catch up with our colleagues in Europe, Asia and the rest of the world.
